[ Whitewater Walk 2007 ] [ Whitewater Walk 2006 ]
The Whitewater - Miami Walk will start concurrently in
Wayne and Preble Counties on September 23, 2007. Union County walkers will
begin on September 25 and join other walkers in Franklin County on September 27th.
All walkers on the Indiana side will meet up with walkers from the Ohio side on
September 29th in Harrison
Ohio. Together walkers will follow the path of the Whitewater Canal from
Harrison to Elizabethtown, Ohio. At Elizabethtown walkers again split, Ohio
walkers following the east fork of the Whitewater Canal through Cleves and onto
Northbend and the Ohio River. Indiana walkers will follow the west fork of the
Whitewater Canal to Lawrenceburg and end at the Ohio River.
This year all funds raised within a county, stays in
that county to help support a local project. Local projects that can receive
the funding must be projects that are geared towards one of three areas.

Raising Funds for the Whitewater -
Miami Walk
Raising funds for the Whitewater - Miami Walk is done
in three ways.
1) Corporate
Sponsorship Corporate Sponsorships are $200.00. The business's name is then
put on the back of the t-shirts worn by the walkers. Also, whenever possible,
mention is given to those sponsors in press releases, news conferences, and
radio shows. One t-shirt is given to every sponsor.
2)
Registration Fee Every walker must register to walk. The fee is
$20.00. Each registered walker receives a T-shirt.
3)
Pledges Walkers collect pledges for their participation in the walk.
If they raise $50.00 or more in pledges their registration fee is waived.
Individual County Responsibilities
1)
Decide what project funds raised in your county will benefit.

Raise funds

Register walkers

Order T-shirts, your county only

Provide a support vehicle for walkers in your county
6)
Provide drinks and snacks for walkers
7)
Local press releases
8)
Designate location for county press conference
9)
Notify local police departments of the days walkers will be walking
in your county
